Papworth Testimonial for Premier Easitalk

Installation of the Premier Easitalk system into Papworth hospital couldn’t have been easier…

After initial meetings in November 2005 and presentations of the system to staff from different departments in March 2006, a proposal was submitted to the Trust Board which was approved in just one week! From then on, the project started moving almost immediately – project plans, surveys, phone line and DECT base station installation, hospital staff training and marketing schemes were all complete within five months and we were kept up to date on of the progress of each phase of the project at all times.

Actual installation of the 200 phones was really straight forward and only took 2 or 3 days - the phones simply required plugging in to a standard mains power socket and some minor configuration. The Premier install team were really helpful – talking to patients and showing them how to use the system whilst they fitted each phone. They also fitted the eight Pay Card vending machines located around the hospital. Overall, disruption to daily ward life was thankfully negligible, allowing nursing staff and patients to carry on as normal.

Feedback from patients and staff has been extremely positive. Patients really appreciate the fact that they can stay in touch with friends and relatives, without leaving their bed and without having to ask the nursing staff to bring the trolley phone to their bed. This also helps us reduce the risk of infection and frees up staff time.

As Papworth is a specialist hospital many of our patients come from far away so the Premier Easitalk system allows them to stay in touch with long-distance friends and relatives who aren’t able to visit.

The install of the Premier Easitalk system has proved a huge benefit to our ward staff. The volume of calls to the ward nurse stations has dropped by an average of 33%, with calls to one ward dropping by 51%. This now means staff are spending less time handling patient calls and are able to spend more time on other aspects of patient care.

All in all a successful project from start to finish.
